Therapist Profile – Lê Hoang
With over 25 years of experience seeing individuals, couples, and families, Lê specialises in providing counselling to people dealing with relationship difficulties, intimate/couple relationships, parenting relationships, family relationships (adults), workplace relationships, friendships.
Lê holds a Bachelor of Counselling and Human Change (2001) and a Graduate Diploma in Systemic (Couples) Therapy (2001). Before moving into private practice, Lê worked with several NGOs including Relationships Australia and Uniting Counselling and Mediation (previously UNIFAM).
Lê views counselling as a collaborative process, wherein the clients are helped to sharpen their clarity around what the resolution of their concerns looks like, learn new skills, and adopting new perspectives to address their issues that lead to a more fulfilled relationship. Lê recognises that clients come to counselling from diverse life experiences and acknowledges their uniqueness. Lê’s uniqueness has become her specialty. She is bilingual (Vietnamese and English), had a strong root in her Asian origin, while University-educated, lives, and works in Australia, for many years. Lê is passionate in and commits to addressing Cross-Cultural, and/or Marginalisation issues, in the Aussie diverse society and relationships. This domain – differences, diversity, and marginalisation – has remained her therapeutic strength in her work with people from all walks of life.
Lê has solid experiences in working with issues around handling conflicts arising from dysfunctional relationship dynamics, and enhancing communication to reach deeper understanding, connection, trust, and relationship intimacy and closeness. She helps couples work on betrayal and infidelity. Lê has had extensive experience in guiding parents on post-separation parenting, and building blended families.
Workplace relationship difficulties have been another area Lê has been involved with, since EAP platforms have been a source of wellbeing for workers. Lê has consulted with many workers, hospital staff, education staff, (paid) carers and support staff, and a variety of staff from other organisations. Lê was an employed counsellor with an EAP provider for 2+1/2 years.
In her approach to counselling, and particularly in the first session, Lê likes for her clients to feel at ease, listened to and understood. She aims to cultivate a comfortable environment in which her clients can voice their concerns and have a counsellor who is confident to work through their issues with them.
In addition to relationship counselling, Lê works with clients to address a range of concerns including self-esteem, depression, stress and anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, anger management and cross-cultural issues, meaning of life. Whilst she primarily works from a Systemic and Person-Centred approach, Lê also draws from Attachment Theory, Gottman Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Developmental Couple Therapy model, Internal Family Systems, Relational Life Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques.
Lê is a Clinical member of PACFA.
